Identifix Shop Manager recently upgraded its VIN decoding engine to improve accuracy and expand coverage, including for heavy-duty and powersports vehicles. As part of this upgrade, the decoder now resolves to a more precise vehicle identity — pulling in trim level and transmission details that weren't previously shown, and returning a single best match instead of a list to choose from.

In most cases, a vehicle that "looks different" than before is actually decoding more accurately (for example, showing "2011 GMC Yukon SLT" instead of just "2011 GMC Yukon").

That said, if a specific VIN is returning information that looks genuinely incorrect (wrong make, model, year, trim, etc.), we recommend first trying to re-decode the VIN to see if the correct option is available. The steps to refresh a VIN are:

  1. Open the recent RO for the vehicle or navigate to the customer's profile
  2. Select the three dots to open up more options for the vehicle
  3. Choose VIN Details & Edit
  4. Select the refresh symbol to perform a re-decode, and if needed, select the correct option from the list

If you still do not see correct vehicle detail after a VIN re-decode, we'd like to take a look. Please share the VIN in question along with what you're seeing with our support team, and our team will investigate and verify.
