Shop Manager by Identifix has integrated with CARFAX to allow information exchange. Shops with a myCARFAX account can connect the application with Shop Manager, allowing the CARFAX QuickVIN feature to be accessed directly from Shop Manager. 

Note: CARFAX Service History and myCARFAX Service Shop are currently unavailable within Shop Manager.

 

Shops that choose to use myCARFAX simply need to activate it. To do this, follow the steps below: 

  • Log into Shop Manager and navigate to Shop Settings → Partner Services, and click the 'Activate' button for MyCARFAX. 




   

  • A dialog box will appear to review the CARFAX Terms of Use, fill in the fields, and click the "Accept" button. NOTE that this is the same information that will appear on CARFAX Vehicle History reports.

 

Once activated, Shop Manager sends your information to CARFAX for enrollment. It can take CARFAX up to 24 hours to activate your account.

After the CARFAX activation, you will see the option to enter a license plate (for decoding) in the Vehicle Info area within the Repair Order. Enter a plate and Shop Manager will query for a VIN via CARFAX.

On the off chance that the vehicle returned from CARFAX is wrong, you can edit it as a custom vehicle (including the VIN) and decode as usual. You can click the ellipsis (...) and then “Edit Vehicle” as long as the Repair Order has not been closed.
