Note: The program does not allow the complete deletion of a customer. This is because of the interconnected nature of the service history data. The work has taken place on the vehicle, so the record of that work should remain intact.

This is similar to how the program handles parts deleting. If the part is associated with any canned job, estimate, work order, purchase order, or purchase record.

Solutions You may find you have entered the same customer twice, or you may find that you have some very old customers and you just want to remove them. In either case, the solution is to merge accounts. To help you essentially delete a customer, you can create a new customer called "Archived" or "Deleted" and then merge the customers you don't want into that particular customer.

Options:

1. Merge a duplicate customer.

   a. Search for the customers

   b. Click the checkbox for each

   c. Click Merge and Pick the customer that you want to have the data merged into.

*Note that if your search does not show the customers on the same page that's fine. You can just click the checkbox to 'select' the first customer and then search for the next one.

   d. You can merge up to five customers at one time.

You have now merged the two customers into one.

2. Archive customers

The same steps apply as above. Here's an example where we create the 'Deleted' customer, find a couple of customers we want to archive, choose them, and then merge them with the 'Deleted' customer.

3. Overwrite Personal Data

If you have a customer with privacy concerns, who does not want their personal information to remain in your system, simply overwrite the data with something anonymous. For example, Mr. VanHausen has gone into the witness protection program, and wishes to remove traces of his past life. To help him, you replace the personal information on his account with something vague, like Past Customer.
