In order to migrate a shop’s data into Shop Manager, we need a backup from the host computer physically located in the shop. It is important to have every other technician and advisor logged out at the time the backup is being made. If you have a Cloud based system please let our Success team know. 

Select your old Shop Management System (SMS) and follow the steps below to make your backup, then upload the backup to the provided link. 

Mitchell 

  1. Simply log into the host Mitchell computer
  2. Click Configuration > Special Maintenance > Data Base Backup and Validation from the  Mitchell menu
  3. Check the option to make a backup “At Program Exit” and set the “Backup Location” to a place you can easily find it.
  4. Once you have the backup saved you'll need to upload it to the provided link. 

Napa Tracs 

  1. Simply log into the host Napa Tracs computer
  2. Click Backup from the Napa Tracs menu - The Backup Status window appears.
  3. Click the OK button. The system saves the backup file in the following format: 
    1. "Tracs xx-xx-xx xx-xx-xx.bak." 
    2. The first xx-xx-xx is the month, date, and year, and the second xx-xx-xx is the hour, minutes, and seconds when the backup was created
  4. Once you have the backup saved you'll need to upload it to the provided link. 

ROWriter 

  1. Simply log into the host ROWriter computer
  2. Click the Central Office Extract Tool and select the store from ROWriter.
  3. Click the Create an Export File for Transmitting to Server button.
  4. Choose the location where the file should be saved.
  5. Click the Transmit button. The data begins exporting to a file.
  6. When the transmission is complete, navigate to the location.
  7. You can now copy and paste the .pak file as necessary.
  8. Once you have the backup saved you'll need to upload it to the provided link. 

Protractor

Protractor Login and Password must be requested from the old SMS for the migration.

Quickbooks (Desktop & Online) 

  1. Simply log into the computer hosting Quickbooks 
  2. Go to Sales, then select Customers
  3. Select the Export icon next to the Print icon.
  4. Choose Export to Excel.
  5. Go to Sales, then select Inventory 
  6. Select the Export icon next to the Print icon.
  7. Choose Export to Excel.
  8. Once you have both backups saved you'll need to upload it to the provided link 

CSVs 

  1. Simply log into the tool being used
  2. Export the CSVs 
  3. Once you have the backups saved you'll need to upload it to the provided link
