Go to Parts → Optimizer

The Optimizer feature must be enabled on your shop account to access this page. If your account is not enabled, you may need to upgrade your subscription plan. Contact us here for more details.

Step 1: Decide on a Max/Min Markup

First, you will assign maximum and minimum markups. Maximum markups should be used for the very least expensive parts (i.e. drain plug washers) and minimum markups for the very most expensive parts (i.e. rebuilt engines).

The markup range for the very least expensive parts is 2.0 to 10.0. You may enter any number within that range. For example, a value of 6.0 would sell a $0.25 part for $1.50. ($0.25 x 6.0 = $1.50)

The range for the most expensive parts is 1.0 to 2.0. You may enter any number within that range. A value of 1.5 would sell a $3000 part for $4500. ($3000 x 1.5 = $4500)

Step 2: Pick GP Percentage Target

Next, enter your desired Parts GP percentage. You may customize individual prices on any part you wish (more on this later); this is the place where you enter the desired GP return across all of your parts.

The range for target GP is 20% - 80%. The typical target is 40-60% depending on your service mix.

You can adjust this value anytime, if your profit target goal changes. If you discover that you’re losing GP % because you have too many “exceptions” (tires, 12v batteries, fluids) you can cheat this number up to compensate.

Step Three: Activate Optimizer

Now it’s time to activate the Optimizer. In order to start, you must have a minimum sales history of around 30 days so the Optimizer has enough data to work with. When you have sufficient sales history, the start button will be green. If you do not yet have sufficient sales history, the button will be grey.

When you click the Start button, a modal will appear to determine how you’d like to enroll or skip your existing parts inventory:

Select “Apply to all” if you’re ready for the Optimizer to start determining your sell price now. Select “Leave parts alone and apply manually” if you only want the Optimizer to suggest prices but not apply them when you sell parts. Either option will allow you to adjust Optimizer settings on individual parts later.

If you deactivate the Optimizer and then start it again, you will see three choices:

The first option will apply the Optimized price to all parts in your inventory.

The second option will clear whatever Optimizer settings you previously made on individual parts, just before you deactivated the Optimizer.

The third option will restore whatever Optimizer settings you previously made on individual parts, just before you deactivated the Optimizer.

Calculations Begin

Whatever you select, the Optimizer will spring to action and begin reviewing your sales history.  It will generate your profit curve according to the frequency and costs of your sales, your markup parameters, and your desired GP%. Once the process is complete, price recommendations will appear across your entire inventory. While the calculating is taking place, you will see this popup on your screen.

If you wish to abort the process, deactivate the Optimizer.

When the Optimizer is finished processing the information, you will see a confirmation popup:
